Take care of your catch

Taking care of your catch is important, both for the release or the pot. When handling fish that you wish to release use hooks without barbs or try to remove barb by pressing them down or filling them off. Ensure you use a wet cloth when holding the fish by also covering the eye for less stress to the fish and gently release as soon as possible. These are general practices that must be applied when handling fish. When taking for eating it is important to keep the fish as fresh as possible. Lots of anglers will say that shad is like porridge well what do they expect when they dig holes in the sand and cover it to bake for hours. The same applies for other species of fish. I recently caught a few stone bream, never enjoyed the taste however after catch, gutted and removed gills from them and into cooler box with ice packs. This is the way that anglers should store fish. Clean and put directly into cooler box. By using this method it keeps the fish fresh and you will enjoy the good fresh taste of your catch.
