KZN Sardine Watch
Hi All. Just thought I would start this thread for all those eager to know and be kept up to date with the Sardines. We did have a confirmed report of Sardines off the Transkei coast in the Coffee Bay area. However these Sardines will not move into KZN waters until our surf temperature drops to around the 19 and 18 degree mark. Currently as of today water temperature off Durban is sitting at 21.3 Degrees.
Please post any information you have on this thread.
They not here yet....real info states they been seen off Coffee Bay, that seems to be legit info but not Margate.
No positive confirmation yet, but I hear that netters are at Rocky Bay. One source says that it is Red Eye Sardines. We will keep you informed as information comes in.
Guys, before everyone starts to get Sardine Crazy, we have just received news from a reliable source that there is a lot of Baitfish (Red Eye and Mackerel) around, within these bait shoals they have caught a few Natal Sardines.
Finally. Hopefully its not a pilot shoal and the nets are removed.
With the expected wind we should get some action.
while we all sit here at work getting our knickers in a knot!!!! Ah well, I will be going on 3 weeks leave at the end of next week :)
Just confirmed. 1st net at Scottie's was Sards. Othe two were mackerel and red eye. Sards R800/crate. Mackerel R1000/crate
check out the eyes of the sards Fish a Man Fish, that would be a dead giveaway. Any indentation of the eyes, they old, if they still bright (not blinking) they are fresh.
