It's Sari Season !!

One morning early in winter of 2015 i went to a great spot to target Kob
Isipingo mouth
on the first trow i hooked into this thing aka (sari fish) fought a whole 45 min or so until the sun came out to my surprise a red one with full embroidery
went home very disappointed with myself

Grew up in La Mercy. Many many sari fish landed. Especially by sings channel. Im a pro.

those things can fight hard!

It is not a fish, but a type of clothing used by Indian Women. Some Indians put these in the rivers and the sea when praying for dead family members. Fighting a shark is better than fighting a sari, LOL.

When I find alot of Saries in the water, I usually take a swim and remove them from the water. It's hard work but it's good exercise. Improves my swimming skills as well. Please take care if you try this. You can get tangled up and drown. Especially if the sari snags on a rock. I've had a few sharks investigate me while doing this. They seem to like the bright colours and movement of the sari in the water.

I really think we all need to educate our elders that throwing sari into the ocean is bad for the enviroment. Do your prayers at the beach, Take the sari and other stuff to the ABH homes. The old ladies would appreciate it more and so will god

You guys think fighting a Sari is tough? On a fishing trip to Blue Lagoon, my Live Mullet decided to commit suicide by drowning itself in a Sari, that was tangled to a floating tree. At first I thought it was a Garrick, cos it pulled my drag and then stopped. Then upon proceeding to fight my Garrick, I thought it turned into a Shark, until I brought it close enough to see the tree pop up between the waves.

If any one of you have fished Blue Lagoon, you will know this. From the time my drag sounded up until I realised I caught a Tree Sari, the crowd behind me was more than some 25 to 30 odd people. I am too dark to turn RED, instead I think my face turned a very dark shade of Purple...lol

I read a story on one of our fishing magazines frequently years ago, about two fisherman, fishing in the dark.
It was a nice bay, both guys one opposite ends, can't see each other, as the night proceeded, they tangled into each other.
The fight lasted right till morning light.
Only then did they realize, that they've been fighting each other all this time. Grin

I also had my fair share, however be careful as once when I hooked into a sari I just pulled my line so it can part. Yes it did part however on the other end of the swivel , making the swivel into a projectile. It struck my body leaving a bad cut and bruise.

Fished Isipingo many years ago, took a guy with us.
He got stuck onto a rock, just few meters in front of us.
Straight stick and pulled, thankfully it was just a small ball sinker, that sounded him on his elbow. For the rest of the day, all he did, was watch us fish while he was in agony.
