Grinder fishing
Lets hear it. Times have changed and anglers seem to have new preferences. Why the grinder? Is it due to the ease of cast (not easy tangling). Just because you see lots of anglers pulling bigger fish with it? Marketing strategy for sales? New toys? Do you still use your multiplier or ball race?
Fishing with a grinder is much easier than a multiplier. no worries about overwinds etc.
Easier to wade with as well. what really is amazing is the directness of braid when fighting a fish.You can feel every small movement of your bait. With the grinder and braid in windy conditions you can still have a decent cast because of how thin the braid is compared to mono, also less drag in the water with braid than mono.On a personal note I fish with both, grinder and multiplier.
I tried it but it’s not for me
Over the past 2 years European and UK salt water fishing has been taken over by longer thinner rods and grinder/braid combos.
So lets hear it. Who is using grinders to slide, here is my story. I have used it, 48 pound gator brade. Not a fan. There are times when the bait slides our perfectly, especially when alive however have had issues when there is weed or dirt in the water. Dirt seems to latch onto brade and the slide gets stuck. The wave break and side wash are other issue in that if the slide trace tangles with the brade then chances are you are going to lose allot of it and this can become an expensive outing. There are many instances that I got hookups while sliding, and currently with many anglers fishing next to each other getting tangled with them is an issue hence I prefer using mono due to these reasons.
