Great way to start the 2021 Season
I decided to get back into serious fishing again. And what better way than to buy some new tackle? So 2 weeks ago I bought myself a new Shimano Saragosa 10000 SWA and got my Kingfisher Coastline Heavy Spin refurbished.
So for my first outing armed with this new setup I went down to Ushaka and joined Jerome Charles in targeting some summer fish. The morning proved unsuccessful but as the day wore on, we moved closer to Moyo's Pier. After a few throws and plenty niggling Shad Bites, I finally got the pull. It was a few nudges at first, and then pull and no return.
A back breaking hour later I landed this beauty of a Thorntail Stingray of 154cm which converted to 74.15kgs. The weight is questionable becuase the fish had a chunk of the one wing bitten off. So if the wings were in tact Im pretty sure she would have come in at over 80kgs.
Nevertheless it was an amazing experience to land this baby on a light tackle setup. Memories forever. Thank You to Jerome for all your assistance and to Lucky's Fishing for the beautiful Reel and all your assistance.
