Garrick Hunting with Shaun Mathura

On Sunday morning Shaun and I decided to go hunt for Garrick. Shaun being the amazing sportsman he is, went out on Saturday afternoon and netted us some live mullets which he kept in his live bait tank, so we could get baits in the water at first light on Sunday.

At around 6am on Sunday we had our live baits in the water and the wait began. It was rather quiet and at around 8am Shaun decided to move his live bait to a spot where the water seemed a bit more fish friendly.

As luck would have it, his tactic proved successful and within a few minutes his SL20 loaded with 20pound line started screaming. Shaun after letting teh fish eat properly, struck the fish and it was game on. A quick fight ensued and a short while later Shaun had a fantastic Garrick of 5.7kgs on the sand.

All the hard work of catching live bait and the patience and perseverance had paid off. Sadly I didnt get any pick ups even with my spinning set up. But a good morning was had by both Shaun and myself. Good memories with good friends and good fish.
