FRESH BAIT

Kingfisher and basil manning have some good fresh bait at present ,pe makeral,yellow tail

Eish bru, I'm only coming down end March.

I usually get from Basil Manning when I'm in Durbs, but notice the sardines were not fresh on more than one occasion. Went like porridge very quick.

BM, Kings and Tackle Center are generally the better options. There are other smaller shops around but I have not bought from any of them so can't comment. One thing when it comes to sardines, I stay away from the the hookies brand (the black and white box, think they are the same thing?). Especially the so called red eye. If one shop sards are not up to scratch, try one of the others. They are all in close proximity to each other.

First try Cheapest fishing tackle, Township hyper. If you fishing Isipingo you can purchase from the Caltex garage. Toti has many bait shops. The fishing hole in Warners is owned by king fisher so you will find their baits there. If you in Winkles and I get most of my bait from here , you will shop at the Fishing Hole. Its opposite Winkle KFC. When purchasing baits make sure you store immediately in cooler box, use what you require for a few casts then you can take out a few more. Do not defrost by placing in salt water. All tackle shops will sell a mix of fresh and stail baits. You must open the box and check the quality before purchase. Tell signs like dry eyes, yellow belly and dry tail will generally indicate that the bait is frozen for a long time. All the luck buddy. If you require a tougher bait, buy Jap mac. They do not get as soft as sardine.

Sorry to correct you here, the Fishing Hole is not owned by Kingfisher. The Tackle Shop is owned by Kingfisher, and that is the fishing shop at Warner Beach itself, behind the flats.

Thanks bro. I know all the shops you mentioned. Will go check the shop at winkels. I used Jap Mackrel before. But I noticed i got more bites from Sardines I had both on that occasion, I know the guys like using Jap mackerel for Shad.

This time I won't buy bait from just anywhere will try and check out a few places. Usually I just go buy from anywhere on the way to the beach, because I'm rushing to go fish.

opps, repeated the name twice. Yep correct. There is a FISH tackle ship in warners that is owned by Kings and the fishing hole in Winkles.

Howzit Bro. Caught that carp at a place called Footloose trout farm. Its in Jozi, close to Fourways.
