Fishing Durban Warner Beach for Garrick - 20 August 2023

Shaun, Chantel and Ronald headed to Warner Beach on the South Coast of Durban to target Garrick and other edibles. It was an outgoing tide and we opted to get our Live Baits in the water at first light.

Conditions were very good however the Garrick somehow did not get the invite and we spent the better part of the morning with little action, except a short take on a sardine bait that Ronald had thrown onto the sand bank. The fish took off with quite a speed but soon dropped the bait.

With the day warming up and the tide dropping lower and lower. Ronald opted to try for Shad on the Rocks. He was rewarded with 4 decent sized Shad.

The tide was fully out by 11am and things were looking too quiet. Shaun decided to have a last throw with a Sardine Bait on the sandbank. Within minutes he had a pickup and the fight felt quite strange and when he landed the fish, we knew why. It was a Lessor Sand Shark that was Foul Hooked.

Well as they say a Bad day fishing is always better than a good day at the office. We didnt get our target species, but we had fun just being on the beach. Until next time. Cheers and Tight Lines.
