Beautiful fish - well done.
I'm fairly new to this site, and am surprised by the number of big, breeding size specimens of threatened fish species being kept. Cracker and salmon/kob in particular are in serious trouble - surely everyone knows this? I have no problem with keeping a pan-size common fish for the pot, but killing a big threatened fish of breeding size makes no sense if you want to keep catching these fish in the future. I salute the skill of the angler for catching such a fish, but I would celebrate him more if he released it

Hi We try to keep all the politics out and celebrate the catch with the fisherman
It is ones choice to release ones fish
we want the guys to share they catches with us and not shy away

I hear you Marcus, but surely we as fishermen gotta talk, and more importantly, think about these things? It's not politics, it's just common sense that if you take out the breeding fish of a declining fish stock that it will decline further - not so? Of course it's every person's choice what they do, but that choice impacts on all of us, and future generations. To blindly just carry on keeping these fish til there are none left is surely not what any fishermen wants?

Guys we can debate all we want to, but the circumstances why any fisherman keeps or releases his catch, will only be know to him. Some reasons could be that it's his only means of putting food on the table for his family or the fish could not be released due to exhaustion... but like I said...it' only him who knows why he kept his catch.

I understand your point Mr Duton and well received however a new thread should of been started highlighting and educating anglers
by you posting on this thread made it seam as you are targeting this angler
If we repeat the process on all the threads with guys catches it will not be fruitful and will fall on deaf ears
Rather start a new thread and get response from the fishing fraternity as a whole and that will result in members reading and changing the way we look at fish stocks
you mean well ,I know that as an individual
I would love for you to start a thread and write up on you views and thoughts with research included and that way we will all respond on a positive note

I back Marcus' comments - we should not as much be judging between each other when no particular law was breached. Otherwise, as mentioned we are only left to 'argue' - which does not render any one of our points as righteous no matter how right it may be.

Both Marcus and David make extremely valid point. One thing i would agree on is that a new thread should be started.
