Daniel Govender - Tiger Shark 17 August 2023

Daniel Govender caught this magnificent Tiger Shark last night (17th August 2023). Here's what he had to say about it: "Here is the beauty part of fishing! I think even bad luck is an understatement of the year I had on the beach this year, what ever could go wrong went wrong. It got to the point where I had to post my Toby's. But the Beauty part is that it takes one fish to change everything! This fish made my year on the beach and fortunate to be ticking this specie off the list! Shout out to my bro for always going out of his way to make sure that fish gets on the beach even with a dangerous shore dump. And to my beautiful fiance for the amazing pics! " What an amazing catch from the shore. Well done Daniel

Liam Gounden - Blue Spotted Ribbontail

Liam Gounden managed to land this Ray using a scratching trace with number 9 hooks on. He took his time and slowly coaxed this fighter of a fish to the shore. An awesome achievement for a Junior Angler.

Garrick Hunting with Shaun Mathura

On Sunday morning Shaun and I decided to go hunt for Garrick. Shaun being the amazing sportsman he is, went out on Saturday afternoon and netted us some live mullets which he kept in his live bait tank, so we could get baits in the water at first light on Sunday. At around 6am on Sunday we had our live baits in the water and the wait began. It was rather quiet and at around 8am Shaun decided to move his live bait to a spot where the water seemed a bit more fish friendly. As luck would have it, his tactic proved successful and within a few minutes his SL20 loaded with 20pound line started screaming. Shaun after letting teh fish eat properly, struck the fish and it was game on. A quick fight ensued and a short while later Shaun had a fantastic Garrick of 5.7kgs on the sand...Read More

Saturday afternoon Garrick Hunt

We decided to go have a few throws in search of some Garrick on Saturday afternoon. Met up with Jerome Charles on the beach. And thankfully he managed to get us some live bait before we arrived. My son Xarion and I quickly rigged up and proceeded to slide out our Live Karanteen. This was Xarion's first attempt at fishing for Garrick with Live Bait. He was really excited and was hoping to get his first prize catch. With our live baits now well settled in the deep blue trough that lay before us. The wait began. We decided to have some fun with the light tackle while waiting, and not very long after we did, Erica went on with a very nice Stumpnose which she quickly landed. This gave us a little inspiration and I decided to rig up my KP and try some old school fishing...Read More
