The surf conditions in my area was not all that good meaning there was a lot of sand banks with lots of weed. I had some spare time to fish so I decide to teach my son gulley (rock) fishing. Took a drive to Ansties where the condition was bad as well being sanded however we managed to find a few rocky outcrops that were fishable. We fished for 3 hours landing many undersize black tail and flag tails that were released. However, we did get a few stone bream and black tail that were taken home for a fry. After moving to PE in January, work has been extremely busy and I finally found the time to wet a line with the family coming over from Durban for a holiday. Friday saw us in Jeffreys bay for the 1st time, what an incredible beach. Gives you an opportunity to take some great photo's (which is what happens when you blank). Not knowing the area at all, apart from endless research and google images, we found a dead end parking by some restaurant. Hi guys , needs some advice on a potentially new set up. I was looking at the Daiwa Saltist Surf elite (14-15 ft) paired with a BG 8000 , I already have a BG 5000 packed with Berkley Whiplash 49lb braid which I use for spinning on an Assassin Amia 11 ft. I was thinking of using the 5000 with another rod but think the 8000 on a Saltist rod would be a better option for bigger inedibles and large GTs, Kob. Is there a similar rod to the Daiwa Saltist of similar 14-15 ft length that is perhaps not as expensive but with good quality that can be paired with that BG 8000? Any thoughts or advice is welcome.
